About
Why I built Sun Mountain Stays.
One operator, accountable end to end. Here's why this exists, the record behind it, and what founder-led actually means for your property.
A note from the founder
I've run short-term rentals. The pricing, the turnovers, the late-night guest message, the cleaner who cancels, the vendor who no-shows, it all lands on one person, usually the owner.
Eventually the home you bought for freedom becomes a second job, and you're reacting to it instead of profiting from it.
I built Sun Mountain Stays to be the operator I wish I'd had: in-house on the turnovers, disciplined on the revenue, and a portfolio kept small enough that your home is never one of hundreds. So the work is no longer yours, and you keep the upside.

Sun Mountain Stays actively serves Colorado Springs & Denver.
Real experience
What the track record actually represents.
- Built and operated short-term rental businesses across 7 different companies. Not consulting, not advising, actually running them.
- 23 markets across 7 U.S. states. Broad enough to understand what varies by market, focused enough here to know Colorado Springs & Denver specifically.
- 16,100+ reservations facilitated. The edge cases, the 2 a.m. lockouts, the last-minute cancellations, the guest who left the hot tub running. Seen it.
- $89.5M+ in real estate stewarded. Owners who trusted us with serious assets, not just a side hustle.
- 73 clients served, a broad enough range of owner types (local, remote, investors, accidental landlords) to know what the job actually asks for.
Track-record figures reflect cumulative experience across prior STR operating roles before Sun Mountain Stays. Current active portfolio is intentionally small and selective.
Why it matters
Founder-led means you talk to the person who built this.
Most property management companies are owned by investors and operated by account managers. The founder is long gone. The institutional layer between your property and the decisions that affect it is thick, and you feel it every time something goes sideways and the answer is "let me check with the team."
Founder-led means the same person who designed the operating system is the one accountable when it doesn't work. No franchise model, no offshore call center, no playbook written for somewhere else applied here on autopilot.
For Colorado Springs and Denver property owners, especially those who don't live locally, that accountability isn't a feature. It's the baseline expectation that was never actually delivered. We're built to deliver it.
